“Blue has long been the preferred color for watch dials, but this year, everything is coming up greener.”Roberta Naas
On February 17th, the blog The Watch Pages published the list “Going Green in 2021 – The 10 Best Watches With a Green Dial”, by veteran watch and jewelry journalist Roberta Naas. We are delighted to announce that one of the watches that we designed for the watch brand Cuervo and Sobrinos is among the selected designs. It is a great satisfaction to be featured in this compilation, which also includes emblematic brands such as Rolex, Hublot, Audemars Piguet, Jaquet Droz and Breitling.
“Cuervo y Sobrinos offers a summery or even beachy take on time. The dial of its Senora Sol y Estrellas watch is hand guilloche and created to match the turquoise waters of the Caribbean seas, which range from green to blue with a host of hues in between.”
Cuervo y Sobrinos was founded in Havana, Cuba in the late 19th century (1882). The choice of the green dial also symbolizes Cuba’s legendary, colonial past. The metal parts of ships and architecture, made of bronze, took on greenish tones in contact with sea salt and humidity.
